Brew Model Management

Guide

How to Become a Model

Starting out in Accra, Cape Town or Johannesburg? Here is what agencies look for and how to get signed, step by step. You can also browse the Brew model directory to see the kind of portfolios we build.

Applying to Brew is completely free. Be cautious of anyone who asks for an upfront fee.

  1. 1. Take simple digitals

Agencies want natural photos, not heavy edits. Take a clear headshot and a full-length photo in daylight, with no filters, minimal makeup and fitted plain clothing. A phone camera is fine.

  2. 2. Know your measurements

Measure your height, bust or chest, waist, hips and shoe size. Add your hair and eye colour. Accurate numbers help agencies match you to the right clients.

  3. 3. Choose a real agency

A legitimate agency earns commission from paid work you book. It should never ask you to pay to join, register or be seen. Check the agency's website, models and social accounts before you apply.

  4. 4. Apply online

Submit your digitals, age, measurements and contact details. At Brew this takes a few minutes and is completely free.

  5. 5. Build your portfolio

Once represented, your agency arranges test shoots and your first jobs, and helps you build a portfolio that works for campaigns, editorial, commercials and runway.

Getting scouted

You do not have to wait to be discovered. Here is how Brew finds new faces in Accra, Cape Town and Johannesburg, and how to make yourself easy to spot. Many of the faces on our model board started exactly this way.

Instagram and social media

We watch tags like #BrewModels and #AccraModels, and we read direct messages. Tag us in clear, unedited photos and keep your profile public so a scout can see your work. Most of our new faces are first noticed online.

Open calls and referrals

We hold open calls in Accra, Cape Town and Johannesburg, and we trust referrals from working models, photographers and stylists. A recommendation from someone already in the industry goes a long way.

Apply directly

You do not need to wait to be found. Our Become a Model form is open every day, and every application is reviewed by our team. Applying is free.

Common questions

How to become a model

Start with simple, unedited digitals in daylight, know your measurements, and apply to a legitimate agency that does not charge you to join. Brew reviews applications from Accra, Cape Town and Johannesburg for free.

How to become a model with no experience

You can. Many of our models were new faces with no previous jobs. We look at your potential, your digitals and your commitment, not a resume. Clear photos and accurate measurements are enough to begin.

How to get signed by a modeling agency

Get signed by sending digitals and measurements to an agency you have researched. A real agency replies, meets you, and takes you on without an upfront fee. Beware of anyone who asks you to pay to be seen.

How to get discovered as a model

Get discovered by making yourself easy to find. Post clear, natural photos, tag your city and agencies, keep your social profiles public, and apply directly so a scout can reach you.

How to get scouted as a model on Instagram

Post clean headshots and full-length photos in good light, use tags like #BrewModels and your city, and keep your profile public. Avoid heavy filters. A scout looks for a clear, honest sense of how you really look.

How to get discovered as a model on social media

Treat your social profiles as a lightweight portfolio. Show your face and full length, vary your outfits and backgrounds, and link the same photos in your application so an agency can match you quickly.

What is a modeling scout

A modeling scout finds new faces for an agency. They watch social media, attend events, and read applications. At Brew, our scouting team reviews every Become a Model submission in person.

How to find modeling jobs

Once signed, your agency brings jobs to you. Brew matches models to campaigns, editorials, commercials and runway work in Ghana and South Africa, and contacts you with brief, dates and pay.

How to audition for a modeling agency

Bring or send your digitals, know your measurements, and dress simply in fitted plain clothing. Be on time, polite, and open to feedback. There is no fee to audition with a legitimate agency.

What to wear to a modeling agency audition

Wear fitted, plain clothing that shows your shape: a simple top, jeans or fitted trousers, and clean shoes. Avoid logos, heavy makeup, and big accessories. We want to see the real you.

Do I have to pay to join Brew Model Management?

No. Applying, auditioning and joining are all free. A genuine agency earns from the work it books for you, never from a fee to be seen. If anyone asks you for an upfront payment, walk away.

Can men apply?

Yes. We represent women, men and new faces in Accra, Cape Town and Johannesburg across commercial, editorial, runway and fitness work.
